Did you hear the one about the hammerhead shark totally nailing it on the beach? No? Don’t worry because now you will….Read More
You have an image in your mind. Most likely because you have eyewitness recounts. Let’s see if this is close. An old guy walking with intention, focus, curiosity, and anticipation. He is x-raying the sand for coins, jewelry, and other interesting findings. You aren’t surprised to notice him wearing a floppy hat, sunglasses, and mostly average beach attire. To stay on point though, we will disregard his Sunday shoes with the black socks stretched as high as the biggest waves. Was I close?
That is not me and never will be. The new metal detector for Rocky Point Beaches this piece is focused on is Rocky Point Direct. The search here is strictly for gold. Riches and other rewards to be shared by all who love Puerto Peñasco.
You see, I was thinking about “3 Feet from Gold.” It is a great book about chasing emotional, spiritual, and financial success based on the writings of Napoleon Hill. The authors are Sharon L. Lechter and Greg S. Reid. The title explains the story of R.U. Darby.
He was a gold miner who quit not knowing he was just “3 feet from gold.” After spending precious time, money, and effort, Mr. Darby sold his rights and equipment to a “junk dealer” for pennies on the dollar.
However, one man’s junk quickly became another man’s treasure. That is because the buyer invested in a mining expert consultant who found the edge of a huge jackpot in the rock was literally one yardstick away. I felt pity for R.U. Darby. That is until I read how he learned from his mistake and never made it again. Darby went on to amass his own small fortune selling insurance. He simply kept working through every “No” from potential clients, and would never again quit 3 feet from striking gold.
Here is another image for your mind. Think of yourself having your legs tied together. The Sea of Cortez is SO close. But you find yourself needing to walk 3 feet on Sandy Beach. Make that a hot Sandy Beach in August. You try taking a step forward but fall down. You keep getting back up and trying again, crawling or quitting is simply not an option for you. Your courage, resiliency, and determination will not allow it.
In thinking up and creating the website, there were coding conundrums, developer delays, financial fears, language loopholes, and good ol’ life getting in the way issues, too. With each decision, I kept questioning, wondering, fighting my frustration and fear. But onward I went.
Just when I thought we were finally ready to take reservations using our great and secure credit card processing company, we discovered a missing section of the bridge to them. Even with their system installed, they could not see our test transactions. Skilled professionals from 3 different companies were trying to figure it out. It took weeks. Better said, days and days of me choosing importance over impatience.
Plain and simple, I trusted and therefore wouldn’t let other people quit after their first, “I don’t know.” Eventually, just like with the junk dealer, the right expert appeared. For him, it was as instant as it was easy. He diagnosed the problem, explained it, and fixed it in minutes.
And so now, the next process in mining for gold is promoting our new metal detector for Rocky Point beaches. Rental Property Managers and visiting Guests of Puerto Peñasco now have a golden opportunity to stop paying those high fees to Airbnb and VRBO. Alas! Rocky Point Direct is an online booking platform no longer 3 feet from gold.
