Is that shot glass of tequila half-full or half-empty? It’s all how you look at it, right? Same thinking for the city health protocols in Rocky Point Mexico for 2021 Spring Break and Semana Santa. Considering this time last year (no thanks to Covid-19), we should be thinking positive. Right?
How about this? Rocky Point rumors were right in this case. Word spreading around town about the Puerto Peñasco Municipal Health and Safety Board was true. The board was indeed busy working with the Office of Economic Development on revising the Covid-19 protocols.
Because city officials as much as any of us understand the importance of tourism, especially in Spring. Remember, this is the first Spring season following last year’s shutdown. There is a delicate balancing act in surrendering extra play time during these popular periods in spring.
The Puerto Peñasco Municipal Health and Safety Board is still responsible for protecting citizens and trying to keep the virus was spreading easily. So, the main health and safety measures will remain in place. For you, this means masks or face coverings are still required in public. Social distancing and reduced capacities in retail businesses, restaurants, and bars are still the law of the land.
But the Office of Economic Development is responsible for trying to help businesses, families, and tourists. They specialize in the financial health business. So, these two departments are working together by slightly expanding the citywide safety strategies.

Keep watching the clock. Here are the new Covid-19 curfew times impacting tourism. These are temporary ONLY for the periods just listed above.
Mexico Beaches are ruled by the federal government. The daily beach hours remain the same. Open from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. All other beach rules remain in effect.
Citywide Curfew Hours
12:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. Mondays through Thursdays.
1:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. Fridays through Sundays.
11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Daily. All activities at the Malecon.
Private rental homes may have their maximum capacity 100%.
Condos, villas, and other lodging facilities may have a maximum capacity of 80%.
Hotels and motels may book at a maximum capacity of 60%.
In open air spaces can serve a maximum capacity of 60%.
In closed spaces can serve a maximum capacity of 50%.
*Masks must be worn at all times other than eating or drinking. Please support and protect the employees because they are held responsible for you complying.
Boating and Fishing Capacities
Recreational fishing boats will operate at a maximum capacity of 80%, including crew members.
Tourism boats (party, sunset, whale watching will operate at a maximum capacity of 60%, including crew members.
When you come to Rocky Point Mexico during Spring Break 2021 or Semana Santa 2021, be safe. Be smart. Respect the curfews and protocols. Enjoy. Bienvenidos!
